In March 2020, during the first COVID-19 lockdown, everything stopped… except our imagination. In this suspended parenthesis, we imagined the ultimate speaker: a speaker without compromise, capable of reproducing the full richness of the sound spectrum, from infrasound to ultrasound, with a transparency, speed and naturalness that only isodynamic technology can offer, all with perfect coherence.
As a providential sign, at that precise moment, we received a call from Philippe Teissier du Cros, an exceptional sound engineer who has been collaborating with our favorite musicians for years. He immediately agreed to join us in this ambitious project. Together, from our passionate discussions and shared reflections, the specifications for the Diptyque Reference.
We challenged all existing technical solutions, particularly for mastering low frequencies, down to infrasound, while preserving power and control. Our research and innovations gave rise to an entirely new, now patented, technology: “Crossed Push Pull”.
From the first listens, Philippe Teissier du Cros and our partners around the world were dazzled by the realism and fidelity of the sound of the Diptyque ReferenceWe have made our dream come true and offered every music lover an extraordinary sound experience!
Each bass driver is powered by two independent windings (vertical and horizontal), composed of ribbons. This unique architecture allows the 22 µm Mylar diaphragm to vibrate using hundreds of small square motors . The “Crossed Push Pull” system ensures total control of vibrations, guaranteeing deep, linear, distortion-free bass with unparalleled efficiency compared to existing isodynamic systems.
For the midrange section, we designed a new 20mm isodynamic ribbon , covering an extended spectrum from 600 to 7000 Hz , while the 8mm pure aluminum super tweeter allows for high-frequency reproduction up to 40,000 Hz.
